You can buy the original of this drawing now at my etsy shop.

The Decemberists Visualized

Over the past few months I have been directing a 15 minute animation, with help from assistant director Robin Bushell, for a one off performance with The Decemberists, that will screen in LA on October 19th. Other film makers working on the project are the brilliant Guilherme Marcondes, Pete Sluszka and Santa Maria. The tickets go on sale today or tomorrow I think so if you're in the area please try and come along! I'll put up some stills from the film when it is all ok to do so. Here's some info on the event:

"Closing out a fall US tour, on October 19 the Decemberists will unveil its multimedia project Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. This unique live show will feature the Decemberists in conjunction with filmmakers Guilherme Marcondes, Julia Pott, Peter Sluszka and Santa Maria, each of whom created their own animated shorts to accompany pieces of the band’s The Hazards of Love. The show will be presented in conjunction with Flux, and will be a benefit for the Grammy Foundation’s Grammy In the Schools music education program for high schoolers. The band will play the entire musical piece synchronized with the animation along with an additional second set of older and newer music. A limited presale will begin at 10:00 AM PT tomorrow morning at http://www.decemberists.tickets.musictoday.com, and general tickets will go on sale on Friday, September 18."

Doodlers Giveaway

So my prints are going to free everywhere this week it seems...I am currently doing a giveaway for my 'I Can't Breathe' print over at Doodlers Anonymous blog for the person with the best anecdote about their first crush. Here's a little snippet of what people have been posting.
"I was in the second grade. He had a thick unibrow and his hair was jet black. He was nerdy, painfully shy and didn't talk to many people. That intrigued me (even at 7 years old). I remember constantly tapping him on the shoulder and asking him to help me with my math. Thanks to him, I know all about long division."
Genius.
It's going on until July the 16th at 5PM EDT so get your butt over there and share your story!

You Folks Are Ace

The first was a giant talking unicorn balloon courtesy of Amy Brown, Stuart Kolakovic and Rosie Miles.

The second was this beauuuutiful, or should i say ACE piece of sewing from Loulou and Oscar.
It was up on my wall within about 2 seconds of opening the parcel.

And last but not least is this wonderful unimaginably cute Polar Bear Broach and bunny friend from Em and Tom at Karma Tank.. you really have to see this guy in real life, I cannot get over how important and awesome he is.

Homesick

Started to feel homesick this week..which is good because I haven't the whole time i've been here and I was beginning to feel like a bit of a monster. This drawing was sort of inspired by that subject matter..I used to have mega insomnia as a kid and my mom used to come in and say the words in the drawing and it always made me feel safer. Granted it comes across as mildly sinister here..but that's intentional..
